The Fribourg Pre-Alps have some lovely hikes and walks. These mountains are part of Switzerland's Bernese Alps, but they are not like the more famous glaciated peaks further east - much lower, greener and more accessible. Quite a few are triangular peaks, hence very common the name of "dent", meaning "tooth".
The beautiful town of Gruyères is nearby, as is the Cailler chocolate factory. Charmey would make a good base. Even if you only come for a day hike, Charmey has good restaurants for your dinner as well as thermal baths.
